So, I admit it–I got sucked in by the hype and got an iPhone 6 Plus. And do you know what? Despite the inconveniences posed by its size, it is just the most wonderful phone ever. Perhaps it is just my aging eyes, but I have always found the smaller iPhones (iPhone 4 and iPhone 5) rather difficult to use as media consumption devices. I used the email on them, but I tended not to do web browsing or ebook reading for any length of time because of the smallness of the screen. Before I got the iPhone 6 Plus, I tried out the iPhone 6 for a week or so, but it was just too similar to my iPhone 5. The wow factor was not there. The 6 Plus, however, is an entirely different class of device. It is just big enough to make it a reasonable ebook reader or web browser. I assume the same would be true for watching movies–the screen is simply glorious–I just haven’t had a chance to try that out yet. Overall, it is a wonderful, life enhancing device. Sure, it is bigger than what I was used to, but it does a whole lot more.
Of course, one of the challenges of a gorgeous, but huge, new phone is how to carry it. This is one area where I would argue that women have the upper hand. I cannot imagine carrying this phone in my pocket on a daily basis, but in a small purse, it is a different situation altogether. I think I have found the perfect small crossbody bag for the iPhone 6 Plus in REI’s Sukha Wallet. Reasonably priced at $22.50, it will hold your iPhone 6 Plus in a separate, silky, padded compartment and still has space for cash, credit cards, driver’s license, and perhaps a small packet of tissues. The removable crossbody strap makes it convenient to wear, but it can also be used as a wallet in a larger purse. I am completely paranoid about damaging my new iPhone, but even I feel comfortable carrying my iPhone around in this nifty little bag. Available only at REI, it comes in pink, green and black.
