The Dog & Bone Bone Guard for iPhone 6 Plus is a tempered glass screen protector designed specifically for the Dog & Bone Wetsuit waterproof case. If you don’t have a Dog & Bone Wetsuit, there isn’t much point in getting a Bone Guard as its dimensions are unlikely to fit with any other case. However, if you are considering getting a Dog & Bone Wetsuit, or you already have one, the Bone Guard is an excellent accessory to have. The Dog & Bone Wetsuit, like the Lifeproof Nuud, can be used with a naked iPhone screen, or optionally with a thin (.1 mm) plastic screen protector, one of which comes included with the Wetsuit. However, if you wanted to use the Wetsuit with a tempered glass screen protector, you were out of luck due to the thicker nature of such screen protectors…until the Bone Guard came along. The Bone Guard is specifically designed to fit into the screen area left uncovered by the Wetsuit, and because the Wetsuit is not resting on top of it, but rather around it, there is no issue with its thickness.
If the Dog & Bone Wetsuit can be used with a naked iPhone screen, why would you want to add a screen protector to the mix? In one word: sand! Aside from all the day to day exposure to things that might scratch your iPhone’s screen, the biggest scratch hazard to your iPhone is likely to be sand, and if you are planning to take your Dog & Bone Wetsuit case to the beach, you should definitely consider some sort of screen protection. The Bone Guard should do a great job of protecting your iPhone’s screen from scratch hazards while feeling and looking great as only tempered glass can do.
1. 9H hardness should protect against most ordinary scratch hazards. In my understanding, 9H tempered glass can still be scratched by sand (or diamond!) but it will be much less likely to scratch than plastic will.
2. Made to custom fit your Dog & Bone Wetsuit case
3. Nice oleophobic coating
4. Excellent screen feel and screen clarity
5. Easy installation.
1. Will only fit with the Dog & Bone Wetsuit. If you like to switch from one case to another, you might find that the Bone Guard looks odd with a case that covers less of the screen than the Wetsuit does, as you will have a noticeable area of uncovered screen.
Conclusion: The Dog & Bone Bone Guard is a somewhat specialized product, in that it is designed to work with just one case. However, it does a great job working with that one case and looks good and feels good on your iPhone. It is available directly from Dog & Bone for $29.95:
